How to Place Social Networking IDs and weblogs On an Article.

•April 26, 2009 • Leave a Comment

A friend on Twitter has asked me how do one place links of Twitter, Blip etc on their blog.

1.  One way is to add buttons on your site which is available on the web.  Just follow the instructions given and include it as a widget on your site.

2.  If you want to do a blog article and just share it to your friends.  Just include the link.  Example: I want to link my Twitter account to this article.

Type in your Twitter account name and then highlight.  After you highlight, Click on the link tab found on your menu bar.

This will window will then appear.  Here is where you can edit the link.

Copy the url of your twitter account on the Link URL space.

You will notice that the @mistygirlph has changed color and when you mouse over it will tell you that it will take you to the said account.  This means you have been successful in adding your twitter link to your blog.

Just follow the steps until you have already added all  your other social networking IDs.

Levi Avatar

Over the weekend, i did an on the spot hand drawn avatar for a friend.  Tweeted it to some friends and to my surprise was asked to do a tutorial on it.  I am now working on doing one.  Main purpose, just an idea that maybe it would encourage others to try and make their very own.

I used a perncil, brush and watercolor plus my 5 megapixel camera.

Simple yet careful attention to detail is truly very important.

It’s a Cat’s Life!

Just thought of sharing with you a site written by my sister Gerry.  If you love cats and love your pets, here is a cool site that you can visit.    http://meowie-itsacatslife.blogspot.com/.  Here she tells the story of the different feline babies that we care for at home.  She also gives pet care advise.

We have 14 cats at home, and a dog that actually thinks she is a cat.  All of them were taken off the streets.  Some have already crossed the rainbow bridge but will always be part of us since they do live in our hearts.

They are truly amazing house companions.  They give love unconditionally, they are the sweetest bunch we have come to know and love.

So if you want to meet them check out the link and fall in love with our cute fur babies.

Why not do a food tour for your next activity?

china town courtesy of Marga MarquezAfter I posted an article (http://digigirlmisty.blogspot.com/2009/02/are-you-tourist-in-your-own-country.html) on a food tour that we did for an office activity, i got a lot of reactions from people on Twitter.  So i had an idea for my next post on here.

It is always a challenge for people to come up with new ways to celebrate a birthday, an anniversary, even an office bonding activity.  Well, why not try a food tour?  Here is how you can go about it?

1.  Find a day that would enable everyone in your group to be free.  Or at least have 4 hrs to spare within the day.  It can be shorter of course depending on where you want to do it.

2.  Location:  have you been to China Town, or maybe try Indian Food, or Japanese or why not a steak tour or street food tour?  Try to find a place where you can actually discover new stuff to eat.  a place where most of the people in your group have not gone to before.

3. Get a tour guide.  Have someone talk to you about the beauty and the history of where you are.

4. Allow time for people to also stop and shop.  This makes the experience very memorable and fun

5. Remind people to bring their cameras.  It is always great to be able to take pictures so that you can share it with your friends or a souvenir of your experience.

6. Wear comfortable shoes.  Most of the time people walk.  Better to be comfortable than sorry

7.  Wear comfortable clothes.  Make sure you wear something appropriate for the food tour, some restaurants do not allow people in slippers, shorts or sandos to dine in. You don’t want the extra hassle on the trip.

8. Use your judgement when trying out the food.  make sure you are not allergic or that your stomach can actually take it.  Some people have sensitive stomachs.

Most of all have fun and bond with the people you will do the food tour with.  And just do it!  Have any of you gone to a food tour before?  Share your experience with me.

Take a deep breath and exhale..

•February 5, 2009 • 4 Comments

I thought it would be a good idea to take a breather and post something that is personal and i feel still relevant to most people.

Lately, I have been so swamped with work that i have been really stressed out.  I’ve literally been snapping at people around me and biting their heads off.  Not good.

Being busy or have so much going on at work I feel doesn’t excuse us from being mean to others.  So I told myself, just relax and sit still and not think of work even for just an hour.  Well, it worked.  Don’t feel so stressed anymore.

I realized as well that taking breaks from work and engaging in some activity makes me calmer, thus allows me to work more efficiently.  I have also learned to let go.

Don’t get me wrong, I am not telling you to slacker but more of tackle things one day at a time. Stop if you feel that you need to.  Stressing yourself does not get the job done faster.  Think about it, when you try to do everything, most of the time you make mistakes already.

Some ideas on what you can probably do:

1.  Have a cup of coffee

2. Take a stroll

3.  Watch an inspiring movie

4.  Go window shopping

5.  Update your status in your social network

6.  Read a chapter of a book

7.  Exerciseor go to the gym

8. Call a friend and say hi

9. Read a blog

10. Post a Tweet ( not too much though)

Just some ideas that I hope will alleviate your mind and then go back to the grind.  I guarantee you, it will make you more productive and have staying power.  So tell me what do you do when you take a short break and exhale?
